Bank robbery on Big Pine Key

Big Pine Key – Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are working together to investigate a bank robbery this morning at Centennial Bank on Big Pine Key.

At 10 a.m., a man wearing a mask walked into the bank and demanded money from one of the tellers at the bank. He handed her a plastic bag, she placed the money in the bag and he left the bank. Detectives say they believe he left the area in a dark colored, full sized sport utility vehicle.

The suspect is believed to be a Hispanic male, 5’8” to 5’10” tall, approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing a mask over his face, a black colored “hoodie” sweatshirt with a light colored design on the front, dark colored jeans and shoes.

Anyone with information about this robbery should call the Sheriff’s Office immediately. Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers of the Florida Keys.     Its amazing that this happened in Big Pine Key. Of all the places that I have visited you would think that this place is crime free
