date&thyme

Inside the Green Pineapple on Duval Street is a new coffee shop called date&thyme. Organic and holistic works of nature blend together exceptionally with flavorful ingredients creating supernal bliss. The chocolate syrup in the mocha latte, especially, is a treat for the palate.

Java aficionado Beth Mata said the flavor is derived from the 100 percent cocoa in the syrup as well as organic beans ground fresh. Java is done many ways at date&thyme. Mushrooms are used in drinks for its holistic properties and flavor. The Chaga Chai wellness brew has chaga mushroom in it.

“Chaga mushrooms are a great anti inflammatory and genuinely taste good, not the taste most people are used to,” she said. “Cancer patients are known to use chaga for its wellness properties.”

Other wellness brews are the dandelion latte with dandelion root and reishi hot chocolate made with milk, cacao, reishi mushroom and coconut sugar. The reishi hot chocolate supports a vibrant immune system and the heart and lungs.

There are about a dozen types of organic teas and all can be served hot or cold — from Earl Grey to green tea.

Craft beers and wines are at the shop, too. There is a café with lunch and desserts items as well and live music on Fridays. They are open Monday through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located at 1130 Duval St., Key West.
