Marathon Youth Football Sign-ups
Registration for the Marathon Youth Club Football is now open! The league is open to players 7 to 14 years old, and the cost is $80 per player. Practices will begin soon, so stop by the Parks and Recreation office at the Community Park to register.

Cheerleading registration is also available for children ages 7-14. Cost is $55 per cheerleader.

Checks should be made out to the Marathon Youth Club with your child’s name on your check. Registration is open Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7-8 pm.

Cardio Tennis Summer Schedule
Wonderlin Tennis has new session times for Cardio Tennis this summer. We had a great week of free Cardio Tennis sessions last week. Based on your input, here is the new schedule, starting immediately.

• Tuesday and Thursday nights 7-8 pm
• Wednesday mornings, 8-9 am

All sessions are held at Sombrero Resort courts. Pre-registration is recommended by calling (305) 304 4802.  More information can be found at http://marathonfl.us/wonderlintennis.

Sheriff’s Office to hold Community Meetings
Monroe County Sheriff Bob Peryam will meet with community members county-wide in August to hear what they think about the Sheriff’s Office. His purpose: to have an informal discussion with the public about the state of the Sheriff’s Office a year and a half into his first term as Sheriff. The meetings will be held in the following locations:

• Key Largo, Friday August 6 at the Murray Nelson Government Center from 6 – 8 pm
• Islamorada, Tuesday August 10 at the Islamorada City Council Chambers from 6 – 8 pm
• Marathon, Tuesday August 17 at the Marathon Government Center from 6 – 8 pm
• Big Pine Key, Tuesday August 24 at St. Peters Church from 6 – 8 pm
• Key West, Tuesday August 31 at the Harvey Government Center from 6 – 8 pm

Asthma Education for Families
The Monroe County Health Department has been awarded $1,500 to conduct family-based workshops on asthma and methods for managing the illness in children. The department is currently looking for families with children under the age of 7 who have been diagnosed with asthma who can participate in the 8-hour program during the month of August. The program will be run out of the Gato building in Key West. Additional rounds of the program will run in the Middle and Upper Keys later this year.

Free Family Fun Night at Kirk of the Keys
The Kirk of the Keys is having a FREE family fun night on Friday August 6 and Friday August 20th from 5:30-7:30 pm. The evening will include pizza, board games and a movie.

Relay for Life Early Bird Party
The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of the Middle Keys is hosting an early bird party on Saturday, Aug. 7 from 4-6 pm at Sombrero Beach Park, Pavilion # 10.
If you want to sponsor a team, be on a team, or just learn what Relay For Life is all about. Please join us. How will your team finish?

Saturday, August 21
Seniors One-Day Driver Safety Course
The AARP Driver Safety course is now a six-hour class. In response to working individuals who requested a one-day class on Saturday, we have scheduled the course for August 21 from 10 am – 4:30 pm. There will be a short lunch break. A minimum of 15 people is required for the class, and pre-registration is required. Call 743-4008 from 1-4 pm for details.

The class is being held at the Marathon Senior Center/AARP, 535 33rd Street Gulf.
