Dan Sullivan is the music man

Dan Sullivan came to the Keys from frigid Alaska in 1989 to play a wedding and decided to never go home again. “I saw how cool the Keys were, the cards fell in order, I fell in love, and I stayed,” Sullivan said.

His arsenal of songs cover a repertoire of genres, which has, in turn, created quite a following of Marathon music lovers. He can belt out the ballads at a wedding, kick up his feet with country and can always get loose with a little rock and roll. His song list is very versatile, and includes covers of the greatest hits, as well as his own written and performed work, like “Left My Troubles Laying in the Road,” “The Marathon Song,” “Storm Front,” and “She Wants to Drive a Cadillac.”

His songs can be found on his two CD’s “Back to the Basics” and “Going for Broke.” He started playing guitar at nine years old and hasn’t put the instrument down since. When he isn’t strumming along, he is teaching guitar lessons in town and just maybe playing a little tennis on the courts.

His weekly schedule includes Castaway in Marathon on Fridays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at The Wreck on Grassy Key, a revolving schedule at Dockside Tropical Café, and a couple of nights a month at Hawks Cay.
