Art is back

On Oct. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m., get out, have a glass of wine and enjoy the creative spirit in Key West. Lucky Street Gallery at 1204 White St. will start the season with a poke at Irma. The gallery will be showing a variety of artists who will be playing on the theme “Cat 5”. Expect some stormy images.

The Studios of Key West, 533 Eaton St. will be kicking off the Fantasy Fest spirit by opening “Time Travel Unravels Fantasy Fest Parade Lab” from 6 to 8 p.m. as well. The Sanger Gallery will become part command center, part makers’ lounge and part exhibition space. On the walls will be a collection of posters, video and rare photographs from the 38-year history of Key West’s gonzo signature event. Artists will also be creating wonders and delight on site.

Also upstairs at The Studios in the XOJ Gallery will be “Street Level Fantasy Fest Photos” from 6 to 8 p.m. and on view until Oct. 26. The photographs are by local photographers who have found angles never seen of the most photogenic festival in the nation. Sponsored by Chas. F. Troxel Jr., DDS.

Harrison Gallery at 825 White St. will also kick off the season with a small front-room opening from 6 to 8 p.m. Helen Harrison will be featuring her own beautifully carved sculptures with a nod to more green color. “We need more green right now,” said Harrison.
