There is going to be some heavy equipment moving on Middle Torch Key. This coming Tuesday, Habitat for Humanity of Key West and the Lower Florida Keys will start cleaning up the old Baltuf Dump on Middle Torch Key. Ultimately Habitat hopes to transfer the 12.8 acres to the Key Deer Wildlife Refuge. The actual heavy lifting is being done by a contractor working for and funded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
