“Spirit of Islamorada”, an old fashioned 4th of July Celebration will happen Sunday July 4, 2010 at Founders Park from 6pm to 9:30pm. The “Spirit of Islamorada” committee and the Upper Keys Rotary Club are proud to be hosting this community event.

This Independence Day celebration will include free fireworks for Islamorada residents. Visitors who are staying at participating hotels will also be admitted free of charge. If your lodging facility would like to participate, simply make a donation to the Spirit of Islamorada firework show of $200, and you will be provided with all the wristbands you will need for your guests. The free admission wristbands for out of town guests will go into effect at 6pm. There will be a $10 admission fee for non-residents who are not staying at a participating hotel, motel or resort.

Call Kelli Brower at 305-240-0573 to make a donation and she will pick up your check and deliver your wristbands.

The event will be a crowd-pleaser again this year with contests for the Best Apple Pie, Potato Salad and a “Nathan’s” hot dog eating contest.  There will be entertainment from 6:00pm to 9:00pm followed by a fireworks display. The Upper Keys Rotary Club will be serving food and will also have plenty of beer for sale.  All proceeds will benefit their scholarship fund and local schools’ athletic programs.  Rotary also supports local Boy Scouts and the ECMC CAMP Program.

This is truly a great community event and the “Spirit of Islamorada” committee is calling on all Islamorada Businesses and Islamorada citizens to give generously. Please make all checks payable to “Upper Keys Rotary” and put in the memo “Fireworks.” Send Payments to: Upper Keys Rotary, PO Box 1514 Tavernier, FL 33070. Your donation is tax deductible! It is a big sky; please give! Call Kelli with any questions at 305-240-0573 or check it out on Facebook “Spirit of Islamorada: 2010 Fireworks at Founders”
