John Riegor, of Duck Key, Florida and owner of Turn Key Marine, passed away unexpectedly on June 9 at the age of 51. He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 18 years, Sandy and their faithful dog, Boo. John graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1983 with a BS degree in Civil Engineering and went on to follow in his father’s footsteps by entering the Marine Industry, where he has been for the last 30 years. In 1993, John and Sandy relocated to Duck Key and established Turn Key Marine in Marathon and later on Duck Key. John forged many strong friendships through his labors and many thought he possessed a magical touch. John loved the Keys and everything about them. One of John’s greatest pleasures was fishing and true highlights for him were winning the George Bush Cheeca Lodge Bonefish Tournament with the largest Bonefish, the Key West Fishing Tournament division winner with the largest Swordfish and the largest Tarpon in multiple tournaments. But just the pleasure of being on the water is what brought the Riegor’s to the Keys. John lived his life to the fullest and he will be dearly missed.

John is further survived by his sisters Jan George Leidiger of Conch Key, FL; Robin Riegor of Corrales, NM; Patty Bratches of New Canaan, CT; his adoring niece and nephews, Jess George, Denver, CO; John George, Sherman Oaks, CA; Reed, Todd, Jack and Clay Bratches of New Canaan, CT; and Ahren and James Edelhoff of New Mexico.

There will be a celebration of John’s life on Saturday, June 18 from 4 – 7 pm at their home on Duck Key, 230 W. Sea View Dr., Duck Key, FL 33050. He touched the hearts of many, and he will continue to do so through the selfless act of organ/tissue donation.

Memorials can be made to Safe Harbor for Animals, 10803 6th Ave. Gulf, Marathon, FL 33050 in John’s name.
