Once again the Keys community has come through. This year’s cancer awareness events surpassed our efforts last year and the big beneficiary is the Cancer Foundation of the Florida Keys. The donations were raised through special events like manicures, facials, massages, jewelry trunk shows as well as skin and bone density screenings.  Additional donations were raised through the purchase of raffle tickets.

Many thanks to the following for making this effort a huge success; Homestead Diagnostic Center, AHEC, Debra Covey and Francine Mitchell from Waves By The Sea, massage therapist Donna Bolton, Adela Marie Salon, Kelly Glista with Silpada Jewelry, artist David Mellor, Terry Albury of The Green Turtle, Robbie’s Marina, The Hungry Tarpon Restaurant, and a host of health care providers for their informational support.

Special thanks to Jason & Kate Koler of The Weekly Newspapers for their month long, in depth coverage of area cancer survivors and our events, and to Mark Mills, Kim Chesher, Capt. Bill Kelly and Clear Channel Radio for their support and assistance.

Cancer awareness is more than a one-month event.  It is an ongoing drive to raise understanding, involvement, and fund raising for research and financial assistance for those in need.  That is what the Cancer Foundation of the Florida Keys and Angelika Clothing Boutique will continue to do well beyond October.

To all who supported our month long event, from the bottom of our hearts we say many thanks and our best wishes for healthy days ahead.
