Loggerhead Pulled from Pool

Released into Sea

Sheriff’s dispatchers received a call at 7:15 a.m. from Islamorada Fire/rescue. They’d received a call from residents living at the 77 mile marker of Highway U.S. One, on Lower Matacumbe Key. Residents woke and found a large loggerhead turtle in their swimming pool. The turtle may have come ashore to lay eggs and then become disoriented upon attempting to return to the water. Islamorada fire/rescue responded. She was taken out of the pool and firefighters assisted her with returning to the ocean. Photo attached.
