Pro Fades combines talent and comfort

Over at Pro Fades barbershop, the familiar buzzing of hair clippers is usually drowned out by laughter, music and movies. The shop takes a unique approach at customer satisfaction by its comfortably designed layout. Guests can enjoy a movie while waiting on a comfortable couch, or listen to music while they wait for a trim. The shop has two televisions, two couches, trendy art lining the walls, and four fully equipped barber chairs for guests.
Marathon’s Alberto Sanchez started Pro fades in 2012. After working at another shop for a number of years, his interest in operating his own shop grew until he made the entrepreneurial leap. Sanchez recalls a period when Pro Fades was one chair, a handful of tools, one television, and himself. “One of the hardest parts about growing the business has been finding talented barbers,” said. Thankfully, I had a lot of help and support from Stephanie Flores to stay focused and keep motivated,” he said.
After six months, barber Roger Hernandez joined the staff at Pro Fades. Sanchez then opened a second shop and hired Carlos Quintana to operate it. Eventually both shops, and the three barbers, consolidated into the current location at 6363 Overseas Highway next to MetroPCS.
His favorite part of being a local business owner is having a lot of face time with clients. “We lacked options for barbershops in town that specialize in styles we cater to,” he said. The shop specializes in fades, blow outs, flat tops, military style hair-cuts, seniors and kids cuts, razor shaves and designs. They also offer women’s cuts for those looking for a more modern look.
“The service at Pro Fades is friendly and upbeat. You are always acknowledged when you come in. My haircuts always come out looking sharp,” said Francisco Santistevan of American Caribbean Realty.
Pro Fades is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and walk-ins are welcome.
