Monroe County Schools closed “indefinitely”

Monroe County Schools closed “indefinitely” - A drawing of a face - KEY WEST HIGH SCHOOL
The Monroe County Schools remain closed indefinitely at this time, but at this time school is canceled with certainty through Friday, Sept. 15. Superintendent Mark Porter made the decision following conference call meetings with Monroe County Emergency Management officials. Due to the need to survey damage from Hurricane Irma throughout the Keys, officials ask that all residents be patient and not attempt to return to the Keys until Monroe County Emergency Management Officials give the ‘OK’.
Porter will make the decision to open schools once emergency management crews say it’s safe to return to the islands and that their infrastructures are safe.
