PAL Boxing Event

by Alyson Crean

Saturday, June 4 marks the fifth anniversary of the Key West Police Athletic League’s Commotion by the Ocean amateur boxing tournament for children and adults.

This annual event is the culmination of one of the most popular programs available through PAL. The tournament pits local kids and adults against boxers from all over Florida and gives them a chance to showcase the abilities they’ve honed throughout the year’s training.

In addition to boxing, the event includes lots of good food, drinks, and music.

Weigh-ins begin at 1 pm at Key West High School gym, and the first match starts at 6:30. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids under 12, and $15 for ringside seating.

The Police Athletic League began in 1993. This non profit group is dedicated to supporting a variety of youth activities and providing kids alternative activities that are fun and help them get involved in the community. All of the funds raised at the Commotion by the Ocean support youth sports and education programs.

Tickets are available at the Key West Police Department.
