Pier House employees soaping up for pups

Local pups can scrub up with a Pier House worthy spa treatment on Saturday, April 9 from noon to 3 p.m. at Pier House Resort at One Duval St. for the third annual Dirty Dog Wash fundraiser benefiting Florida Keys SPCA. The employees of Pier House will be soaping up to raise money for the shelter.

Pier House General Manager Joe Dantoni said he is looking forward to washing dogs, too. “The Dirty Dog Wash is a fun event for the employees, dog owners and especially the dogs.” he said about Pier House raising more than $2,500 the last two years. “With the addition of vendors, we are now providing an outlet for information on dog services and products, all while supporting the FKSPCA.”

All dog washing proceeds will go directly to the nonprofit, while their owners can enjoy greyhounds, salty dogs, and regal beagles at the Pier House Beach Bar. New this year, vendors specializing in doggy wear will be on hand for shopping. The SPCA will also have dogs on site available for adoption – which could be a great time to find a new best friend.

“The Pier House significantly helps our homeless animals annually with this event,” said Tiffany Burton, FKSPCA’s Special Events Coordinator. “The community members love this tail wagging good time and the proceeds really help the animal care fund which covers enrichment for the animals at the shelter.”
