Red Cross offers CPR in Key Largo  

The American Red Cross reminds that you can’t predict when an emergency will occur, but you can be prepared. 

Register for Red Cross CPR training on Saturday, August 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Marriott Key Largo Bay Resort. The cost $45. For more information or to register, call the American Red Cross at 296-4033 or 852-9612. 

 

GLEE encourages locals to contact Senators in support of renewable energy

Florida Keys GLEE (Green Living and Energy Education), encourages Keys residents to take a stand and support unique tax incentives for renewable energy.  

While interest in clean, renewable energy is gaining major ground among businesses and citizens around the country, America’s current federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) for renewable energy sources will expire at the end of 2008.

The Key Largo chamber of commerce and the Florida Keys Board of Realtors are teaming up to provide three County candidate election forums in the weeks and months ahead.

Help prevent crime in the Upper Keys, participate in National Night Out 

Both the Key Largo Sheriff’s Office and the Islamorada Sheriff’s Substation will sponsor separate “National Night Out” events on August 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Key Largo event will be held at the Key Largo Community Park and the Islamorada event will be held at Founders Park. 

 Sheriff’s Captains Don Hiller and Donnie Fanelli invite the entire Upper Keys community to attend the free events, which will feature hot dogs, hamburgers, desserts, and refreshments.

Vaction Bible School 

St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Islamorada will be holding a Vacation Bible School August 4 through 8, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program is designed for ages 2-13.  The theme is Rainforest Adventure: Treetop Bible Blast.
