Rising star: Sanders focused on expanding horizons - A woman looking at the camera - Guitar

South Florida’s Jade Sanders is a fresh-faced talent with a high ceiling in the country music world. Her powerful voice and catchy lyrics fetch instant comparisons to some of today’s top stars.

Sanders’ father was her first guitar teacher, and for 10th birthday, got her a guitar. After learning her first three chords, she just started writing her own originals. At age 12 she performed in public for the first time while living in Mississippi.

Now 18, she’s written more than 100 songs. Some of her originals are currently being aired on Thunder Country 100.3FM and Today’s Country K99.1FM.

Her song writing process is built out of her chord choice. Singles, like her hit “You and I,” come to Sanders as ideas that are quickly fleshed out into full songs. She was able to write “You and I” in one shot, and without many changes. At times Sanders will create a story in her lyrics, like in the song “Shotgun Rider.” The music video is worth a watch on her website, www.jadesanders.net

Sanders said she’s focused on expanding her musicality, co-writing, and working with new musicians. She’s excited about meeting new artists and producers when she visits Nashville this August. It’ll be her fourth time going to the Music City. Sanders is also eyeing a radio tour up the Florida coast and North Florida in the near future.

For now, Sanders is just enjoying life’s journey and letting new ideas come naturally. Gigging in the South Florida country scene and Florida Keys has kept her grounded, and Sanders said she digs the Keys vibe, adding that, “the weather is always amazing.”

Sanders is scheduled to play every Wednesday and Thursday in April at the Lazy Lobster. Starting in June, Sanders and her band will be at Hog Heaven at least once a month until December. Check her website and Facebook for events scheduling.
