Long before Pat Croce and Company transformed Turtle Kraals into one the most popular destinations in Key West, the historic locale operated as a turtle soup and cannery manufacturer in the early 1900’s. In a gesture of divine irony, Turtle Kraals hosted a recent Sunset Social Drinking Club event to benefit Save-A-Turtle of the Florida Keys. More than 150 were on hand to indulge in great food and a great cause, and more than $4,200 was raised for a group that has released 637 Loggerhead hatchlings into Key West waters this year.

“Our current mission is to promote the health and perseveration of sea turtles,” said Turtle Kraals’ Michael Schultz. “Save-A-Turtle provided the perfect partner for us and we could not have been happier the outcome of the event.”

This was the sixth event this year for Ben Hennington and the SSDC, with the organization’s founder promising more benefits to come. For more on Save-A-Turtle visit: www.save-a-turtle.org
