Shorten your to do list this holiday season

Just about the time you make your first turkey sandwich next Friday and begin thinking about picking up a tree and unpacking your ornaments with which to decorate it, the Zonta Club of Marathon will be ready to offer you a short cut.

Their inaugural Holiday Festival of Trees at the Marathon Airport will include 23 pre-decorated trees available for bidding through silent auction. Many are traditional, but themed trees include Candyland, a Peacock tree, and one decorated with handmade ornaments by students at Grace Jones.

“We hope this will be an annual event our club can grow each year,” said co-chair Barbara Perrine.

The Zonta Club of Marathon invites you to preview the offerings Friday evening from 5-8 pm in the Main Terminal of the airport.

The silent auction will begin on Saturday morning at 10 am along with children’s crafts sponsored by the Marathon Parks & Recreation department until 2 pm. Raffle items and bake sale goodies will be up for grabs. Santa and the Zonta Zebra will be making a special guest appearance, too!

Sunday will include sounds of the season from local choirs, musical talent as the silent auction concludes, and winners will be announced at 3 pm.

All proceeds benefit the community service activities sponsored by the Zonta Club of Marathon.
