Simone & the Supercats in the Keys - A person standing in front of a stage - Singer-songwriter

Formed in 2003, Simone & The Supercats feature three singing, multi-instrumentalists covering songs spanning nine decades of music in the pop, rock and dance genres.

Simone & The Supercats perform nightly throughout Florida and recently started making their way into the Marathon band circuit playing regularly at Sunset Grille, The Hurricane, and Nowhere Bar and Lorelei in Islamorada. This week they will be at The Cane on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and Sunset on Saturday.

“They are fun, upbeat and interact with the crowd,” said Sunset Grill Owner John Kotch who sets the band up overlooking the 7 Mile Bridge. “When people hear them, they like to hangout longer and enjoy their tunes.”

Simone Star, the lead singer, has a unique vocal style channeling the raspy rocker Janis Joplin and purring Chrissie Hynde. After touring the country she is currently in the studio finishing her ninth independent CD and enjoys her “beach-life downtime.”

Classically trained keyboardist and vocalist Bryan Kezer and drummer Paul Stathis round out the band.

“We love it down there, we love the beach and the water,” said Kezer, who moved from Oklahoma to Florida. “We are beach people and rely on getting that island vibe.”

They started playing three years ago at The Hurricane and fell in love with the locals. “It’s our home away from home” he said. “Plus, we try to stay as south east as possible and avoid the dreaded w-word – winter.”
