In 1999, TIME Magazine called The Wailers “Exodus” album “The Album of The Century.” Now, some 29 years since Bob Marley’s untimely death in May 1981, The Original Wailers are still carrying the torch that Bob ignited so many years ago. They have just finished a tour that took them throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand where they proved that they remain as kings of the Reggae world.
The Original Wailers will headline the “ONE LOVE FESTIVAL” in Key West, Saturday, May 22 at Truman Annex Waterfront. The festival will feature three great bands and is presented by The Rotary Club of Key West, who are raising funds specifically for their College Scholarship Fund.
THE ORIGINAL WAILERS: Featuring Bob’s former sidemen Junior Marvin and Al Anderson, as they front an 8-piece band, complete with female back-up singers just like Bob’s band had. They are always a great live show as they play all of the great Wailers songs with a true passion and their “fire in the belly” intensity. Al Anderson’s guitar brings an extra kick of rock rarely heard in Reggae, and don’t be surprised if the Marley songs sound even better now, this band is at the top of their game.
TECHNO DREAD: Will premiere their new songs from their new album “Long Journey” for the first time live. Techno Dread are bringing some seasoned pros with them specifically for this premiere in Key West including band members who’ve played in Burning Spear, Rita Marley, Culture and Third World band. With an all-star line-up like that, and renowned front-man like Tony Gits, this is a unique opportunity to see them.
THE RESOLVERS: Are an all original Reggae-Pop band from West Palm Beach. Their catchy tunes and well crafted playing has made them a fan favorite throughout much of Florida. Keep an eye out for their reggae remake of Pink Floyd’s “Breathe” – it’s very cool.
