WATCH
PBS’ ‘The Vietnam War’
In one of the most eye-opening documentaries ever produced on the Vietnam War, this 10-part series examines the political, historical and emotional landscape of the conflict. The story is told through the lens of veterans on both sides, protesters, supporters and others who lived out the 20-year conflict. The story unfolds with a balanced approach that is often missed in contemporary documentary narratives — while offering historical insights, including how the war and civil unrest likely shaped the divided America we know today. Written by Geoffrey C. Ward and Directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick.

LISTEN
Trop House
This week we recommend downloading Australian DJ Thomas Jack (Tom Jack Johnston) for your drive through the Keys. The 25 year old is known for hits like “Rivers (featuring Nico & Vinz) and “Rise Up” (with Jasmine Thompson). While this is house music, Jack belongs to the Trop House genre that he helped define, which lends a smoother sound that is fitting for the Florida Keys vibe. And be sure to check out his remix of “Little Talks” by Of Monsters and Men.

WEAR
Doxa Searambler ‘Silver Lung’
For its latest piece, the Swiss dive watch manufacturer Dova has partnered with Aqua Lung to create a timepiece that can withstand depths of 1,000 feet. But you are going to have to act fast to score one of these watches. Their last collaboration, the Black Lung, sold out within minutes and this edition will most likely do the same. The stainless watch features a brushed silver dial that evokes the sun’s ray reflecting off the ocean when light hits it just right. Whatever they say … it’s still cool. You can pre-order or wait until they start shipping in September.

  1. Is there any writer at your office that can get any sort of updates and pictures of what is happening at the Islander Resort in Islamorada? We’d so appreciate any good updates and pictures. Have been staying there since 1973 when Mr. Samuels owned and had reservations for the week after the hurricane hit. As I can see from date I am really old now and would love to get back sooner than later!
