DK’s Style Hut brings new designs in store today

The ladies of DK’s Style Hut, Donna Kirchner and Mia Molek, spent all day Thursday warehouse shopping in Miami to bring the chicest styles to Marathon, including the newest sundresses to make their customers’ summer pop along with their signature accessories, tanks and more. “Friday will be a good day to come in because we will have a lot of new items in stock,” Molek said.

These aren’t your mom’s fanny packs. DK’s Style Hut’s owners Donna Kirchner and Mia Molek show off some of their new items in store, including these hip hip-bags made by Ruby Zarr and an exclusive line of orchid jewelry they just stocked.

What started as an online shop years ago, turned into a thriving boutique in Marathon catering to locals looking for fresh outfits and tourists seeking the perfect vacation threads.

“We are very conscience of our customers’ needs,” said Kirchner, dressed in DK styles and showing off some of the new goods in the hut located at 8347 Overseas Highway in Marathon. “We order everything in small quantities so everyone in town isn’t wearing the same thing and we are very conscientious about never selling two of the same outfits to people who are going to ‘Suzie’s’ wedding next week.”

Expanding last year, the miniature shop gained 100 square feet more retail space and storage area. “It feels like we moved into a mansion,” Kirchner said pointing out the doubled dressing rooms and more floor space to show off their wares, including their “miracle jeans,” some of the softest jeans on the market.

“If you think you can’t wear skinny jeans, then you haven’t tried these on,” Molek said of the Just USA jeans. Sizes range from 1 to 13 and they come in light and dark wash for $56. For summertime, a slightly rolled up jean is trendy look.

Also popular in the store are their custom Greek sandals which come in gold, blue, natural and dark brown and are stamped with the DK’s Style Hut logo on the bottom, and the $20 capris in hundreds of styles.

“We’ve been known to pass out a glass of champagne to our customers,” said Molek, looking at the T-shirt on the wall emblazoned with the words, “Everyday is a good day for champagne.” Another tank tops boasts, “Coffee and yoga are all I need.”

“We also have been known to be psychiatrists, if needed,” she joked.

Kirchner and Molek will also style their customers and gift-wrap items. “We’ll deliver in Marathon if there is a last minute item needed, and we can walk a gentleman through buying gifts for his lady with ease, we just need to know a size and a budget.”

Not to forget to mention, their sale rack is also really fun, and constantly revolving new items to buy for a steal.

The Hut is also very generous in the community, helping fundraise with fashion shows and donating items for silent auctions and raffles around the town. “This community means so much to us,” Kirchner said.

While supporting the community, they also back local artists by featuring handcrafted items like sea glass jewelry made by local bartender Cornelia Hoover.

DK’s Style Hut is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. and is located across from the Marathon Airport. The phone number is 305-440-2738 (just in case you are a gentleman looking for something nice for your lady. Ahem.)
