This weekend marks the 25th Anniversary of a Marathon institution – the Stuffed Pig. For a quarter of a century Karen Dennis and the hardworking staff at the Pig has brightened more days than the hot Florida Keys sun when it comes to serving the best hash, blueberry pancakes and lobster omelets. This weekend the Pig will host pig races and day long barbeques in their typical fashion – with all proceeds directed right back to the community that seems to always vote the Stuffed Pig “Best Breakfast.”
This year’s award winners will be announced Saturday night at the Jaycee Building on 33rd Street. As of press time, only a few seats remained, but the Jaycees have invited Fire Chief William Wagner, so there should not be a problem exceeding the capacity of the building. The doors open at 6 with the official ceremony kicking off at 7 pm. The Jaycees will also be presenting their 2008 “Community Awards” for outstanding individuals within the Marathon community including the Ralph Cunningham Jaycee of the Year Award, and Marathon’s Man and Woman of the Year.
