“One Night in Miami” is a fictional account of one incredible night where icons Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, and Jim Brown gathered discussing their roles in the civil rights movement and cultural upheaval of the 60s. They gathered in a room at the Hampton House in February 1964 to celebrate Ali’s surprise title win over Sonny Liston. It’s the first feature directed by Regina King from a screenplay by Kemp Powers based on his stage play of the same name. Watch now on Amazon Prime.

READ | THE VANISHING HALF

The Vignes twin sisters will always be identical. But after growing up together in a small, southern black community and running away at age sixteen, it’s not just the shape of their daily lives that is different as adults, it’s everything: their families, their communities, their racial identities. As with her New York Times-bestselling debut The Mothers, Brit Bennett offers an engrossing page-turner about family and relationships that is immersive and provocative, compassionate and wise.

MUSIC | DANGEROUS
Country singer Morgan Wallen burst onto the scene in 2018 with his debut album “If I Know Me,” and fans were instantly charmed. The album length alone shows his willingness to buck conventional genre trends, with influences from artists as different as Jason Isbell and Diplo, proving Wallen to be as adventurous in his listening as he is in his bar escapades. Thirty songs are on the track that include “7 Summers,” “More Than My Hometown” and “Heartless.”
