Luke Knight, a 2008 Key West High School graduate and former collegiate swimmer, likes traveling and Blueberry Yum Yum cocktails.

A Blueberry Yum Yum is the street name for a certain type of marijuana, but at My New Joint, upstairs at Square Grouper in Cudjoe Key, it’s only the code name of a delicious blueberry laced drink.

Bar manager Luke Knight says it has a great flavor and is light and refreshing. The drink mixes Stoli blueberry vodka, fresh squeezed lime juice, simple syrup, pomegranate purée and then is topped with prosecco. It’s topped with a speared blueberry garnish. The yum yum is served in a tall Collins glass.

“It’s not too sweet,” he said, “which is why a lot of people like the flavoring of it.”

Knight has been at Square Grouper for two years and has extensive knowledge in wine, spirits, and craft cocktails. In his free time, he said he likes long walks on the beach and movies. (Wink, wink; this is nothing like his Tinder bio.)

Downstairs, the Square Grouper is closed for the month of September, but 420 Lounge, as it is sometimes called by locals, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 4:20 p.m. until midnight with live music every night. “It will be a local’s bar the next month,” he said.

My New Joint also offers 16 beers on tap with a nitro line for the darks and 170 craft beers in bottles.
