The final weekend of October meant the return of all things Halloween for Marathon the city renewed all its annual celebrations. Crane Point Museum and Nature Center kicked things off Friday night with its annual Witches in the Hammock event before Key Colony Beach’s Havana Jack’s closed the evening with the 2023 Boo Bash to benefit the nonprofit Presents in Paradise. Despite a last-minute venue change, the next morning saw dozens of costumed youngsters take to the street on Sombrero Beach Road for HapynKeys Running and the Marathon Parks and Rec Department’s Halloween Kids Costume Run.
Presents and Paradise was once again the winner of the week as proceeds from Tuesday’s City of Marathon Employee Costume Contest netted $900 more to help kids get Christmas this year. And finally, Tuesday night meant an evening of costumes, candy and more than a little bit of shaving cream as kids and kids at heart made their way around Gulfside Village and the neighborhood behind the Marathon Airport for two of the city’s most popular trick-or-treat events.
