The 9th annual Bubbas: Key West People’s Choice once again brought together the best this island chain has to offer and was further proof that the people make this place what it is.
The months of June and July were filled with good-natured competition for global votes.
We received votes from all 50 states, six continents, nine European nations and our southernmost ballot came from Burnham, New Zealand.
The Bubbas chaos culminated in the July 23 awards gala at the always generous Key West Theater, where the event raised more than $30,000 for this year’s nonprofit recipient, Bahama Village Music Program.
Since the Key West Weekly launched The Bubbas nine years ago, the awards have raised well over $100,000 for local charities.
We couldn’t be more proud of this community and the people who call it home. Here’s to another great year.
