Congratulations to all of the 2020 Bubbas: Key West People’s Choice Awards Winners!
More than 11,000 ballots were completed during six weeks of voting.
As most know, we created a completely different format in 2020, which only listed the previous years’ (2014-2019) winners in each category. And while we promise to return to the “all-inclusive” format in 2021, this year’s format was created for two reasons.
First, we wanted to remain extremely sensitive to our friends and neighbors who continue to struggle during the COVID-19 pandemic — and avoid pitting the entire community against one another within our normal construct. Secondly, we simply wanted to offer an additional avenue to support the Community Wins Initiative in 2020. The fundraising campaign was created to benefit local organizations in an effort to replace the donations that were lost to the cancelation of Fantasy Fest and the annual King and Queen campaign.
And while there will be no live awards ceremony in 2020, we still would like to take a moment to thank the previous winners, the 2020 winners, the voters — and our sponsors for raising much-needed funds and awareness for a great cause during this uncertain and troubling time. Thank you, Key West, and to all of those across the globe who have participated in the Bubbas: Key West People’s Choice Awards since 2014.
In that time, your support and generosity, along with that of our gracious sponsors, have raised nearly $100,000 for community nonprofits and organizations.
