Don’t worry, you didn’t miss this year’s Key West Brewfest. Events take place Oct. 1-5, with the popular Grand Tasting main event set for Saturday, Oct. 3, from 3 to 8 p.m., at Southernmost Beach Resort. Oh, and it’s now called OktoBREWfest.

The Key West Sunrise Rotary Club this year moved its annual, sudsy fundraiser, usually held on Labor Day weekend, to a cooler October calendar page.

The new name is a nod to the original Oktoberfest that’s been fortifying thirsty revelers in Munich, Germany for 216 years. And yes, the Key West version will almost certainly feature at least a few men in lederhosen.

It will also include more than 60 vendors pouring 225 different beer selections from craft breweries and other participating beer makers.  The Southernmost Beach Café will offer beer hall-inspired food specials and cocktails throughout the festival.

And it’s a buzz you can feel good about, as all proceeds benefit Sunrise Rotary’s scholarship fund. So raise a glass this weekend at OktoBREWfest.

VIP admission to the tasting event is $125 and begins at 3 p.m., giving VIP guests two hours of early access along with a commemorative poster, stainless steel VIP tasting mug, and Bavarian-style buffet. General admission is $50 and runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Non-drinkers can enjoy the event with a $20 designated-driver ticket that includes admission, soft drinks and a coupon for one food item. The Grand Tasting is for ages 21 and older. Visit keywestbrewfest.com for the full schedule of events.
