Just before 1 p.m. on April 18, the Florida Department of Health released the latest COVID-19 case count.

Overnight, five new cases emerged, bringing the total to 73 in the county. 22 are travel-related, 34 are community-spread and 17 are currently under investigation. 35 are male, and 31 are female. There have been 9 hospitalizations and 3 deaths.

66 are residents and seven are non-residents. 35 are in Key West, 15 in Key Largo, six in Tavernier, five in Marathon, two in Islamorada, and one in each of Key Colony Beach, Summerland Key and Cudjoe Key.

With the new cases, the youngest person in the county to test positive is a 6-year-old child. Prior to these results, the youngest person was 10-years old. The age range is 6 to 80, with a median age of 51.
