This Week’s Fishing Report – Late Season Migration

Reports from my Good Karma Sportfishing podcast listeners indicate the mahi-mahi disappearing off the coast of New Jersey, which means they are on the move back down south.

All last week we found large schools of “heavy lifter” mahi-mahi in depths of 200-300 feet. The schools were scattered and moving south.

We also found plenty of “football size” tunas along the edge of the reef. We trolled smaller size ballyhoo rigged over blue/white sea witch style lures. That set-up produced larger size fish for my clients.

This Week’s Tip – Full Moon Rising

I am always excited for the full moon. Be ready for a migration of wahoo to be moving through the Upper Keys. With them will be large blackfin tuna. The full moon was Monday, Sept. 20.
