Fishermen’s Community Hospital is pleased to announce the hiring of Surgeon Reza Keshavarzi, MD. Keshavarzi joined the practice of Steve Smith, MD in November 2011. Keshavarzi arrived in the Keys following the completion of his residency in General Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
Keshavarzi comes to the Keys from Pompano Beach, Florida and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky. He continued his education at the University Of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky completing his Medical Degree with distinctions in 2005. He also accomplished scholarships in Academic Excellence, Medical Spanish and the Brown Williams Honor Scholarship. Keshavarzi also has certifications in Laparoscopic Surgery and Advanced Trauma Operative Management and held the position of Chief Resident of General Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami during his 2005 – 2010 residency.
Keshavarzi, and his fiancée Rose, are looking forward to working and living in the Keys. With interests in diving, cooking, traveling and spear fishing, the Keys were an obvious choice. “We love the water and the friendly keys residents that made the keys a desired location.”
