Florida Keys residents and community leaders are aiming to make the drive down the Overseas Highway on Sunday, June 14 a highly patriotic display of the red, white and blue in celebration of National Flag Day.
Fire stations, government buildings, community organizations, private businesses and homes are joining in as an introduction to America’s 250th birthday. From Key Largo Rescue’s giant flag at the entrance to the Keys all the way to Key West, the drive promises to be a highly visual kickoff to the celebration of the nation’s semiquincentennial.
This week, America 250 Florida Keys light pole banners will begin appearing throughout the Middle and Lower Keys to build excitement for a year of commemorative events honoring our nation’s semiquincentennial.
Whether you fly a flag from your home, business, boat or bike, the county encourages everyone to join this show of community pride.
