Florida Governor Rick Scott recently announced the reappointment of Stephanie Scuderi and Sheldon Suga to the District Board of Trustees of Florida Keys Community College. Scuderi, of Tavernier, was originally appointed to the College’s Board of Trustees in 2015 and is currently the chairwoman. Suga, of Duck Key, was appointed to the Board in May 2017.
Both are reappointed for a term beginning November 21, 2017 and ending May 31, 2021. The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. Also on the seven-member FKCC governing board are John Domenech, Kevin Madok, Michael Puto, Elena Spottswood, and Robert Stoky.
Scuderi is the Market President for Centennial Bank’s Upper Keys market. Residing in Islamorada, Scuderi draws from 20 years of professional experience in banking, marketing, and consulting to support the community in a variety of ways. A member of Leadership Monroe County’s Class 18, Scuderi is the Vice Chair of the TDC’s DAC IV and also sits on the board of directors for the Good Health Clinic of Monroe County. Scuderi has held leadership positions with several organizations including the Islamorada Chamber of Commerce, the Upper Keys Rotary Club, the Monroe County Education Foundation, the Morada Way Arts and Cultural District, and the Florida Keys Wastewater Assistance Foundation.
Scuderi holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, a Master of Science from Northwestern University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Virginia.
Sheldon Suga is the Vice President and Managing Director at Hawks Cay Resort in Duck Key. With over 35 years of industry experience, he is a seasoned hospitality executive. He has served as general manager of ITT Sheraton properties in West Hartford, New York City, Halifax, La Jolla, Los Angeles, and Tokyo, where he was also the country manager for ITT Sheraton. Additionally, Suga has worked for Wyndham hotels and resorts in Atlanta and Puerto Rico as well as the Gaylord Palms in Orlando and the Gaylord National Resort.
Suga currently serves as the President of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA) Monroe County Chapter, a director on the FRLA State Executive Committee, and a member of the District III Advisory Committee of the Monroe County TDC.
Suga holds a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management at Ryerson University in Toronto and completed the ITT Sheraton’s General Management Training program, where he earned the ITT Ring of Quality Worldwide Team Award.
