A night of monsters, mad scientists and community generosity turned into meaningful support for local children as the Florida Keys Children’s Shelter (FKCS) raised $4,000 during its second annual Monsters & Mad Scientists Halloween Bingo fundraiser on Oct. 21 at the Armory Speakeasy in Key Largo.
The sold-out event highlighted the Upper Keys community’s commitment to helping vulnerable children and families throughout Monroe County. Proceeds will support FKCS programs that provide safe shelter, counseling and critical resources for youth and families facing challenging circumstances.
The evening combined philanthropy with theatrical entertainment, featuring performances inspired by the “Bride of Frankenstein,” eerie plague doctors and “The Phantom of the Opera.” Live vocalist Alex Yost and DJ Julian kept guests entertained between rounds of bingo, while a costume contest and raffles added to the festivities.
For more than 40 years, FKCS has served over 25,000 children and families throughout the Florida Keys. Community fundraisers like Monsters & Mad Scientists play an important role in sustaining these services while raising awareness of the needs of local youth.
FKCS thanked the Armory Speakeasy for hosting the event, along with gift card donors Tavernier 5 Cinema, Papa Joe’s, Ciao Bella Salon and Flagler Station, whose contributions helped make the evening a success.
