Sea creatures and mermaids dipped below the surface for some music and entertainment during the annual Lower Keys Underwater Music Festival at Looe Key Reef. Located within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, about 6 miles south of Big Pine Key, snorkelers and divers not only had the chance to view corals and marine life, but they also witnessed the “sub-sea” concert as mermaids and creatures played musical instruments. “Under the Sea” and the Beatles’ “Yellow Submarine” could be heard underwater through speakers placed beneath boats above the reef. Put on by the  Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce with coordination by US1 Radio 104.1 FM, the event highlighted the balance between enjoying the underwater beauty and keeping the environment clean and healthy.
