Keys tourism agency launches summer savings campaign to draw visitors

What if the best time to experience the Florida Keys & Key West wasn’t during peak season?

Late summer and early fall offer travelers a more relaxed side of the island chain. Life slows down. Sunsets linger. And there’s more time to discover the local restaurants, waterfront hideaways and memorable experiences that give each island its own personality.

That’s the inspiration behind Keys Season, a new promotion from Visit Florida Keys & Key West featuring offers from Key Largo to Key West. Through Oct. 31, travelers — and locals enjoying a “staycation” — can take advantage of special values on accommodations, attractions, fishing charters, dive trips, eco-tours, restaurants and cultural experiences.

“Our first Keys Season celebrates one of the most rewarding times to visit the Florida Keys,” said Kara Franker, president and CEO of Visit Florida Keys & Key West. “This is when visitors can truly settle into the island lifestyle – whether that’s watching the sunset from a waterfront tiki bar, diving North America’s only living coral barrier reef, casting a line offshore or discovering the personality of each island community.”

From Key Largo to Key West, every stop along the iconic Overseas Highway offers something to discover, and during Keys Season, savings.

Many participating lodging partners are also offering a flexibility promise, providing free cancellation and rebooking options should travel plans change. And some offers extend beyond the Keys Season timeframe, giving visitors even more flexibility.

Travelers can shape their experience however they choose. Spend a morning on the water. Wander through an art district in the afternoon. Settle in for fresh local seafood as the sun slips below the horizon.

As summer transitions into fall, the Florida Keys’ event calendar shifts into high gear, giving visitors even more reasons to plan an escape. Celebrate the life and music of Jimmy Buffett during Just a Few Friends, then return a few weeks later for the legendary Fantasy Fest, where costumes, parades and creativity transform Key West.
