MARATHON ROTARY ANNOUNCES NEARLY $100,000 IN DONATIONS

The Rotary Club of Marathon recently completed donations to local and international causes totaling $42,000. Among the recipients were AHEC, which received $10,000 for its dental program; Crane Point Hammock, which received $7,500 for classroom and summer camp scholarships; the Marathon Rec Center, which received $4,500 for new equipment plus a grant (applied for) that would provide another $2,500; Pigeon Key Foundation, which will receive $5,000 a year for the next three years; and the Autism Society of the Keys, which received a $5,000 donation. 

Additionally, the Rotary Club of Marathon has donated $10,000 to relief efforts in Ukraine through the Lviv International Rotary Club in Lviv. And with scholarship season coming up, the Rotary Club will donate $45,000 to local students, including one full-ride scholarship through Take Stock in Children. Rotary President Duane Webster, along with his board of directors, approved these donations as part of the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”
