REEF TAKES BEST CELEBRITY A SECOND YEAR IN A ROW

Hi friends! Reef the fox here with your weekly “Reef’s Report.” Well, we did it. You did it. The people voted and voted me right into the Best Local Celebrity title for the second year in a row for the Best of Upper Keys.

To say I am honored is an understatement. This award means so much more and extends far beyond our fabulous Upper Keys community. Placing an animal in a human category, and then naming me the winner in that category means that you see me as an individual. You see me as a being worthy of love, respect and life. This award is not just for me, but for 100 million fur-bearing animals senselessly and violently killed every year in the name of fashion.

To be born into this world for the sole intention of being killed for something as useless as a fashion accessory is a gross reminder of how humanity still has a long way to go.

I am beyond grateful for our community that has accepted me just the way I am and sees me for exactly who I am. My amazing colleagues at the Keys Weekly Newspapers gave me an opportunity to use my voice by bringing you this report week after week and they allow me to use this platform to discuss sometimes hard to hear truths. They are the real MVP’s.

I know my mom will be forever grateful for the way Monroe County has truly embraced the uniqueness that is Pawsitive Beginnings. From fur farms to freedom in the Florida Keys. I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Never forget, animals have a voice; sometimes it is silenced, but it is always there. It is just up to you to know how to listen.

Reef, over and out!
