In a recent case, the Monroe County State Attorney’s Office announced that 66-year-old Bobby Allen, 65 was adjudicated guilty and sentenced following multiple controlled narcotics sales conducted by the Key West Police Department Special Operations Division.
Allen was sentenced before County Judge Mark Wilson to 5 years and 6 months in the Florida Department of Corrections on three separate cases, with the sentences to be served concurrently, following his conviction for multiple counts of sale of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school. The court also imposed a total of $2,739.00 in fines and court costs.
The charges stem from a series of controlled buy operations conducted in December 2024 in the area of Windsor Lane and Olivia Street in Key West. During these operations, undercover officers utilized pre-recorded currency and audio and video surveillance to document multiple cocaine transactions involving Allen.
Investigators documented at least three separate sales occurring on Dec. 6, Dec. 13, and Dec. 18, 2024. Each of these transactions took place within 1,000 feet of The Basilica School, a factor that enhanced the severity of the charges.
During the operations, Allen sold varying quantities of cocaine, including approximately 1.9 grams, 1.1 grams and 4.0 grams. Detectives positively identified Allen during each transaction, and the encounters were captured through live streamed surveillance equipment and body worn cameras.
Following the investigation, arrest warrants were issued on Jan. 31, 2025, and Allen was taken into custody shortly thereafter.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Carter Reeves.
“This was not a one time mistake. This was repeated, deliberate drug dealing taking place steps away from a school,” said Chief Assistant State Attorney Joseph Mansfield. “That kind of conduct threatens the safety of our community and will be aggressively prosecuted. I also want to thank the Key West Police Department Special Operations Division for their thorough and professional work in building this case. The sentence imposed reflects the seriousness of these offenses and sends a clear message that those who sell drugs in our neighborhoods will face real consequences.”
