Rumble Productions recently announced “Key Change,” a new cinematic travel and music series created by and starring award-winning singer-songwriter and filmmaker Jess Wachs. Filming is underway, with the series confirmed to air on Keys Living TV as one of the network’s flagship original productions.
“Key Change” follows a simple premise. Traveling across the nation with a Subaru-turned-recording studio, a weekly radio show, a rooftop tent and the One Human Family philosophy, Wachs interviews people and visits meaningful places, capturing their essence in an album that builds human connection, empathy and weaves society back together with the power of music.
“Everyone has a story to tell and a voice worthy of being heard. At our core, I believe we all want and believe in similar things. … We’ve just forgotten how to recognize that in one another. Music has the power to reconnect and bridge the distances between us,” said Wachs, creator and host of “Key Change” and founder of Rumble Productions, which is producing the series. “We’re not showing up with a script. We’re showing up with open minds and open hearts, allowing each story to reveal what song it wants to become. By the end, we’ll have created not just an album, but a musical tapestry of America.”
Sometimes the story becomes a song written with people encountered along the way. Other times, the song is inspired by them. The completed cinematic series will span 12 episodes, beginning in Key West with stops in Nashville, Boston, New Orleans and more. The final episodes will air on Keys Living TV, in film festivals worldwide and pitched to television distributors. The journey will create social content, video updates, audience engagement opportunities and original songs and sketches, showing the process of writing the album as well as behind-the-scenes antics, bringing viewers along in real time.
The show is rooted in Key West’s “One Human Family” philosophy — the idea that no matter how different, we all are one and real connection is possible despite our differences. “Key Change” carries that spirit on the road, diving deep into people’s stories during interviews in its weekly Saturday radio show, and capturing experiences across the nation. Part travel documentary and part music series, it’s built around genuine human connection and real adventures rather than a predetermined script, capturing authentic spontaneity that viewers and creators encounter together.
The series is produced by Rumble Productions, an award-winning production company based in Key West. The team includes Key West-connected, seven-time Emmy Award-winning co-director Flynn McCaffrey; Emmy Award-winning editor Matt Taff; Key West local filmmaker Dave Arndt; PR and marketing expert Kayden Gordon; sponsors from the Key West arts community and an administrative team. The project includes mentorship from the Key West Film Festival’s Cassidy Rast and local filmmaker Michael Kirk.
“Key Change” is in production, with additional casting, sponsorship and participation opportunities available at keychangewithjess.com. It is filming the pilot Key West episode and encouraging more interviewees and musical talent to participate.
The premiere episode will be released Sunday, Nov. 8, on YouTube @jesswachsmusic and the project’s accompanying traveling radio show “Key Change With Jess” will air on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon on Party 105.7 FM.
