After more than 18 years of serving the boating community in the Upper Florida Keys, captain Steve Powers and Cheryl Powers have announced the sale of Sea Tow Key Largo to captain Chris Ward, a longtime Sea Tow operator with deep roots throughout the Florida Keys.

Steve and Cheryl purchased Sea Tow Key Largo on Aug. 20, 2008, and spent the next 18 years building a business known for dependable on-water assistance, strong community relationships and a commitment to helping boaters when they need it most.

Ward, who already owns and operates Sea Tow Key West, Sea Tow Lower Keys, and Sea Tow Islamorada/Marathon, will now oversee Sea Tow operations spanning the Florida Keys.

For Steve and Cheryl Powers, the sale marks the end of a meaningful chapter spent building a business centered on helping boaters, developing lasting relationships and serving the community they call home.

“Sea Tow Key Largo has been such an important part of our lives, and we’re incredibly proud of the business we’ve built and the relationships we’ve made along the way,” said the two. “We’ve had the privilege of helping countless boaters over the years, and knowing that the business is going to someone with Chris’ experience, knowledge and dedication makes this transition especially rewarding.”

Ward brings extensive experience in marine towing, salvage and recovery, along with a strong understanding of the unique challenges of boating in the Keys. His longstanding involvement with Sea Tow and commitment to customer service make him a natural successor.

“Steve and Cheryl have built a wonderful reputation in Key Largo, and I’m honored to continue what they’ve started,” said Ward. “Bringing these operations together allows us to provide dependable, locally operated service throughout the Keys while maintaining the personal attention Sea Tow members deserve.”

Although ownership is changing, the commitment to assisting boaters and providing reliable service on the water remains the same.

“We’re grateful to our members, our community and everyone who has supported Sea Tow Key Largo over the years,” added the Powerses. “It’s been an incredible journey, and we’re excited to see the business continue to thrive under Chris’ leadership.”
