The school year is winding down and summer is just over the horizon. From making flippered friends and exploring a private island to taking the stage for a theatrical production, there’s no shortage of activities in the Florida Keys when school lets out. Here is information to help parents and kids come up with a summer plan. Please note that as most organizations are finalizing their camps, details are subject to change. COFFEE MILL DANCE STUDIO

Children’s Summer Dance Classes and Mini Dance Camps enrolling now at the Coffee Mill Dance Studio. Classes start Tuesday, May 31. For boys and girls ages 3 and up. New and returning dancers are welcome and no experience is necessary. COLLEGE OF THE FLORIDA KEYS 

Summer Adventure Camps

Registration is open for the College of the Florida Keys’ Summer Adventure Camps. Designed for 7- to 15-year-old children, the one-week sessions provide opportunities to learn, create and have fun. CFK Summer Adventure Camps run Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a 60-minute lunch break. Camps will begin June 13 and run each week through July 29. Weekly camp sessions are grouped by ages, ages 7-11 years or ages 12-15 years. ISLAND FARM CAMP

Our camp offers a traditional summer camp experience on a real working farm.

At a time when children are increasingly surrounded by smart phones, computers, television, our goal is to get campers outside, actively creating, playing, and learning. Your child will be a hands-on, active participant in our farm community.

Our 9-week camp starts May 31 for children 6-15 years old. 

Registration is open. 

$395 per week with early registration extended until April 30 for $295.

ISLAND GROOVE & GRIMAL EXPERIENCE

– May 30 – June 3 & July 25-29, ages 8-14, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Join the adventures at both Grimal Grove & Island Groove. Youth get to experience a rare piece of Florida Keys history while exploring a special culinary menu they prepare themselves, leading up to a special menu they will create and bring to life for parents and caregivers to enjoy with a showcase on the final day. Besides enjoying nature’s tropical fruit, kids will experience archery, make ice cream, swimming, scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, crafts, movies, dancing, gymnastics and more. $315 per week.

-ACRO TUMBLE & GROOVY GYMNASTIC CAMP

June 6-10, ages 6-13, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Come tumble, tuck and roll. Students will focus on improving strength, flexibility, & technique during this week of active, fun learning. Each day students will experience 5 days of acro training, specializing in tumbling, limbering, balancing, contortion, partner work, Acro Dance progressions & choreography as well as fun with crafts, games, & more. $250 per week

-DINO EXPLORE SAFARI CAMP

June 13th – June 17th, Ages 3-10, 8:30am – 3:30pm (1/2 day option available) Each day of camp involves a fun, creative storyline that will incorporate opportunities for the kids to exercise their muscles, their imaginations and their cooperation skills – working together!  Each Super Kid-osaurus will experience prehistoric adventures using big body play, role-playing games, directive activities, & creative crafts!  Full Week $250 OR Half Day Week $165

-ENCANTO DANCE CAMP

 June 20-24, Ages 3-8, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Join us for a fun Encanto dance and tumbling camp. We will dance, tumble, sing, and craft while enjoying the magical music from Encanto. $175

DANCE PAWTY WITH MY PET

July 6 – 8 (3-day camp) Ages 3-8. 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Raise your paws if you love Paw Patrol and Secret Life of Pets because you’ll pawsitively love this fun tap, ballet and creative movement dance camp! Tiny dancers can bring their favorite stuffed pet (dog, cat, character, anything goes) and together they’ll unleash the fun on four purrfect dancing adventures. $125

-NINJA TURTLE POWER CAMP

 July 11 – 15, Ages 3-12, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (1/2 Day optional available) Cowabunga dudes! It’s time to shell-ebrate summer with new Ninja defense & tumbling skills.  Ninjas will get to explore creative Ninja Turtle-inspired obstacle courses while improving strength, flexibility and hand-eye coordination. Mix all that in with crafting, games and movies for a fun turtle time. Full-day week: $250; half-day week: $165

-BROADWAY BOUND MUSICAL THEATER CAMP

July 18 – 22, ages 7 & up, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dancing, singing and acting are what it takes to be a Broadway-bound performer. Students will practice auditioning and participate in character roles with dancing, vocals/songs and   acting scenes from Broadway musicals such as “Annie,” “Moana,” and “Peter Pan.”  Each day our cast will rehearse, craft our own props, play-acting games and more. Full week: $250

6 Week Acro Dance & Tumble Classes

June 22 – July 27, ages 7 & up Wednesdays 4:30 to 6 p.m. This 6-week program series is designed to maintain skills and flexibility throughout summer. Each class consists of a warm up, strengthening, balancing, and gaining new skills from cartwheels to back handsprings. 6-week class session: $120

SPCA CRITTER CAMP 

May 31- August 5, Ages 7-12The Florida Keys SPCA presents its second season of Critter Camp for children at the FKSPCA Key West Campus. Critter Camp is a wonderful opportunity for children to learn important values such as kindness, compassion, and love for all creatures. Camp activities include animal interactions, field trips, guest speakers, fun games, arts and science projects, and opportunities to learn more about the FKSPCA and our mission to advance the cause of animal welfare in the Florida Keys.
