Islamorada and Key Largo community members took time to remember fallen service members on Memorial Day. In Islamorada, the Matecumbe Historical Trust held its annual ceremony at the Hurricane Monument. Speakers included Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez, Mayor Buddy Pinder, Bob Johnson of Islamorada American Legion Post 145, Pastor Tony Hammon and Councilman Henry Rosenthal. In Key Largo, community members gathered inside the Murray Nelson Cultural Center for a ceremony led by John Donnelly, U.S. Marine and Purple Heart recipient.
