Two Tavernier residents, who deputies say appeared heavily intoxicated, were arrested on Dec. 29 after attempting to drink at a bar with three young children in their care.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, 35-year-old Richard Lamartine Greene Honore and 36-year-old Candace Cheynna Yambo arrived appearing heavily intoxicated in a motorized golf cart-like vehicle with three young children. Deputies say a fight ensued as witnesses attempted to ensure neither drove. One child was approximately several months old; another was approximately 1-year-old, and the third was approximately 2 years old.

Witnesses further stated at least one of the children wandered into the street while the suspects were attempting to get service. Yambo also nearly dropped the infant during the incident, according to witnesses.
The Florida Department of Children and Family Services was notified. Both suspects were taken to jail. Honore was charged with child neglect, resisting arrest, and damage to property. Yambo was charged with child neglect and resisting arrest.
No one was injured in the alleged incident.
