ANIMAL-ASSISTED THERAPY PROGRAM TAKES OFF

Nicole Navarro and Ridley the fox visit the Hemingway Home & Museum in Key West. CONTRIBUTED

Hi friends! Reef the fox here with your weekly “Reef’s Report.” We are continuing to start 2024 with big bangs at Pawsitive Beginnings in Key Largo. Last week mom, founder Nicole Navarro, spent the entire day in Key West with Ridley giving back to the community and engaging with our animal-assisted therapy partners.

She and Ridley visited Wesley House’s Inez Martin Children’s Center, the Hemingway Home and Museum to collaborate on some cool photos and then it was off to Project Lighthouse for their monthly group. They finished off the day speaking to the women at the Mary Spottswood Center run by Samuel’s House.

The following day, they made their way to our other partner in Key Largo, Kinder in the Keys Treatment Center, where they spoke to the women about resilience and overcoming past traumas.

As our program continues to grow and be more widely recognized and requested, additional funding specific to the program is needed. We now have a variety of levels of sponsorship that our local community can sign up for to ensure that this unique program can continue to operate and operate efficiently. Pawsitive Beginnings does not ask for money to appear at any of our community partner facilities and it will stay that way, but now we need your help.

To find out more regarding program sponsorship, please visit pawsitivebeginnings.org and click the “animal assisted therapy” page.

Don’t forget: This Saturday, Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. to 1p.m., Ridley and mom will be special guests at the SD Marine tent during the Island Boat Show. We will be helping to highlight their Sea Fox line of marine crafts. How cool is that? Make sure to head on down and say “hi” to mom and Ridley. I’m pretty sure you can get your photo taken with him. No, you won’t be able to hold him but selfies while mom is holding him are totally cool.

Anywho, that’s all for this week. Until next time, Reef, over and out!
