Key West business partner Mitch Harding had the plane to himself when he arrived on Aztec Airways’ first flight to Key West from Fort Lauderale Executive Airport.

The whole ground and flight crew were there to meet and welcome Harding.

Aztec launched its Key West-Fort Lauderdale service on Oct. 29 after hosting a ribbon-cutting event at the Key West airport on Oct. 22.

Three flights per week depart from the Aztec Airways check-in facility at the Key West Ferry Terminal. After check-in, a private shuttle takes passengers to the Key West International Airport, where they will be dropped off for direct boarding, avoiding TSA lines and crowds, according to a press release from the company.

Introductory one-way fares are $99 for a limited time, the release states.

Aztec also offers scheduled flights, private charters and cargo flights in Key West, South Florida and Eleuthera, Bahamas.

The company uses the nine-seater Piper Chieftain aircraft for its passenger flights.

“With a cruising speed of 200 mph, Piper Chieftain aircraft are the backbone of our passenger fleet for both charters and scheduled flights,” the company’s website states.

The nine-seater planes are “reliable, comfortable, capable, air-conditioned for your comfort and radar-equipped for your safety.”More information is available at 954-351-9313 or AztecAirways.com.
