HOLIDAY LIGHTS CONTEST OFFERS $5,000 IN PRIZES

Key West Chamber of Commerce launches holiday decorating contest

Do you have a business in Key West or Stock Island? If so, you are eligible to enter the Key West Chamber of Commerce’s “Wrap Up the Year On a Holiday Note” decorating contest beginning Friday, Dec. 4. Contest entrants can upload an exterior picture of their decorated business to the chamber’s website from Dec. 4 through Dec.15 — with a chance to win part of $5,000. Businesses need not be chamber members to enter.

“So many businesses, families and tourists have experienced tough times this year and we felt it was a fitting time to encourage businesses to be as festive as possible,” said Key West Chamber board president Suzanne Moore. “Maybe we can create some light and joy on the island and we can all celebrate and enjoy this holiday season together.”

To enter, businesses must be located in Key West or on Stock Island. The contest does exclude rental and residential properties. Businesses that wish to participate may do so through the chambers’s website at keywestchamber.org beginning Friday, Dec. 4. From there, a prominent tab will be displayed with easy instructions to register and upload a picture.

Once the entry period ends, voters will be able to select the Best Overall winner, which will receive $2,000 from the Key West Chamber. The voting period runs from  Dec. 16 until 5 p.m. on Dec. 24. In addition, a chamber panel will decide the winners in four other categories to award the remaining $3,000 in prize money.

For more information visit keywestchamber.org beginning Friday, Dec. 4.
