CANES SOFTBALL ON A ROLL

Langley slides safely into home plate for the score

The Coral Shores varsity softball team’s offense has been rolling with more than 10 runs manufactured in the last three games. With a 4-2 overall record, and 2-1 in conference, the Canes have won their last three games over LaSalle on March 12 by a score of 22-2, Everglades City a day later, 11-1, and Carrolton by a score of 18-5 on March 16. With a young team that’s seen injuries to three players, Coach Lesa Bonee said the players are doing a good job putting the ball in play and staying aggressive on the bases. “The two games we lost, we beat ourselves and threw the ball around and gave them runs,” she said. “But we’ve been in those games. We’re growing.” The team returns to Holly Given Field on Thursday, March 17 at 5 p.m. against the No. 1 team in the conference in Silver Palms.
