This Week’s Fishing Report

Last week the current was off; however, the fishing was good. We managed to put together a nice bite of yellowtail, mutton snapper and vermilion snapper. The vermilions were jumbo, so my clients were very pleased.

There wasn’t much current on the reef either, but we limited out on yellowtail each time.

Podcast listeners reported a nice bite of wahoo while fishing the Elbow Reef down to the Molasses Reef. Also, they reported plenty of mahi-mahi out in the deep water, along with a few random blue marlins.

Past October full moons have brought excellent bites of wahoo at the Islamorada Hump and larger black fin tunas in the mix. So, the wahoo bite should be in full swing. Good luck out there.

This Week’s Tip — Solar Lunar to Catch More Wahoo

I cannot stress how important it is to use the solar lunar charts for wahoo fishing. Guys ask me all the time, “Hey Capt. Ryan, what tools do you use?” and I consistently mention solar lunar.

I use it so much; I added it to my free app—The Good Karma Sportfishing App. It’s all about building a habit and getting in the practice of using the tools that will up your game and consistently catch you more fish.
